7.8m Spectacular
David Brest and Mark
had a great 5 days with the 7.8m boat early this month. The weather was
fantastic the first 3 days and then fairly
ordinary for the last
couple, but they got into some good fish.
There were cobia
harassing bait schools where they got close enough to be just floating a mulie
down into the bait
school and watching
the cobia take the bait. See the Youtube clip below of the whole thing, quite
specky!
Both Mark and David
got into yellow-fin tuna.
I shot some underwater video on a school of
cobia harassing the bait ball. Awesome stuff:
Knife Jigs in Favour
My first real attempt at serious jigging was an eye opener for me. Rob Sceresini and Andrew Doen was up here this month and all they did was use jigs, nothing else! They did very well landing all sorts of stuff. They were telling me about how they were getting snipped off by mackerel while winding up real fast from the bottom as well. Rob very kindly gave me one of his jigs to try out. My first flat out retrieve with the jig over a known mackerel spot resulted in an instant hook-up on a mackerel!
Second drop over a show
of fish on the sounder and this dhuie showed up!
Now jigging is quite hard
work so I changed to bait for a rest and picked up this nice red emperor!
It was a good day out
for me.

Kalbarri catches
Brian Avila and Kirsten Mason
together with a group were out and about in the 6.5m boat on a very nice day.
They
got their bag limit of dhuies, snapper and miscellaneous reef fish.
Kirsten
Mason hold her snapper.
She
says in an email.
“Thank you so much for the hire of your 6.5m boat we had an
awesome time & had no problem getting our bag limit!
Your assistance was fantastic, we will see you on the next holiday”.

Auto Edge mechanics trip
Steve Brennan and a
bunch of work mates had a couple of days with the 7.8m boat mid-month but
unfortunately the weather was a bit harsh
limiting there range.
However they did get a few good fish such as these baldchin groper and coral
trout.

He will convert your

Good day out! Good fish!
Cameron Macpherson
and Bruce Bagshaw had a week with the 6.1m boat slipping in 3 good days just
before
the wild cold
front on Tuesday last week. They spent a couple of days waiting for the storm
to clear by going for a land based fish at Port Gregory.
After the storm was
settling and too rough to go too far Cameron spotted some structure less
than 1 km from the river mouth in 20 metres of water.
Dropping down right
on the spot resulted in this 90cm pinky
They had a good trip
all round landing a 9-10kg Mack 2 cobia 6 plus baldies, 1 Bronze whaler shark
200-400kgs after a 120min fight had to cut it lose!
all in the first three days.
20 plus fish species. Red-throat, cod, flathead, eel, scaley mackerel, tuna (cod cod cod, wrasse, NW blowies, other spotted blowies.........
